September 2020 to May 2022

Livelihood Support for the War 11 Affected Families in the Northern, North Centre & Eastern Province of Sri Lanka.

From September 2020 to May 2022, P. Sasikala, in partnership with Misereor, implemented a transformative initiative to provide livelihood support for war-affected families in the Northern, North Central, and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka. This program aimed to address the economic vulnerabilities of families profoundly impacted by the devastating effects of war, offering them a pathway to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. A total of 60 beneficiaries were identified and supported through a series of comprehensive livelihood assistance measures and skill-building training programs. These efforts included vocational training, small-scale entrepreneurship support, and capacity-building workshops, equipping beneficiaries with the skills and resources necessary to generate sustainable income. By tailoring the support to local contexts and leveraging the unique potential of each beneficiary, the program fostered self-reliance and economic resilience among these communities.

The initiative not only addressed immediate economic needs but also focused on long-term empowerment by integrating knowledge-sharing and practical training into its framework. Participants were guided to explore opportunities in agriculture, crafts, and other local industries, ensuring that their livelihoods aligned with community needs and market demands. The partnership between P. Sasikala and Misereor emphasized sustainable development, creating ripple effects that extended beyond individual beneficiaries to uplift entire communities. This impactful program stands as a beacon of hope and a testament to the transformative power of targeted, inclusive, and sustained livelihood interventions in post-conflict settings.
